AB Max™ – Microblepharoexfoliation

Anterior blepharitis is an inflammatory disease that involves the anterior eyelid margin and eyelashes and is associated with staphylococcal bacterial infection or demodex mite infestation. Anterior blepharitis may result in symptoms like: irritation, a burning sensation, foreign object sensations, tearing, and dry eyes. Many people will also notice crusting of their eyelashes and/or eyelids being stuck together upon wakening.

While some symptoms of this disorder are mild, if left untreated, anterior blepharitis can lead to more serious, sight-threatening conditions; blepharitis for example, can lead to conjunctivitis and permanent lid margin changes, such as meibomian gland dropout, marginal keratitis, corneal neovascularization, and cicatricial eyelid changes.

According to the National Institute of Health, the effective removal of crusts around the eyelid margin reduces the possibility of bacterial infection that not only contributes directly to anterior blepharitis, but also has a deleterious effect on meibomian gland function.

“Lid hygiene of various types” is a TFOS DEWS II STEP 1 treatment recommendation. Anterior BlepharoExfoliation (AB Max™) in-office procedure is a new effective microblepharoexfoliation (MBE) treatment. The AB Max™’s advanced patented PULSE technology is a 5-8 minute deep cleansing treatment that gently massages the outer eyelid margins while effectively cleaning all of the scurf, debris and bacteria off of your outer eyelid margins – providing a comfortable experience! AB Max™ can be repeated every 3 months
